Death of Emma Jane (Heale) Greenwood

Context Note: She was first-cousin of William Jacob Davis of Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham.


OLD SUTCOMBE RESIDENT MOURNED

The funeral took place at Sutcombe last week of Mrs. Emma Jane Greenwood, who passed away at 15, Lambrook-road, Taunton, where she resided with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Hellier. Mrs. Greenwood, who was 71 years of age, was the widow of Mr. William Greenwood, who resided for many years at Sutcombe.

A service was held at the Methodist Church, when Pastor Edwards officiated. Mr. W. E. Mountjoy presided at the organ, and the hymns sung were “Jesu, Lover of my Soul,” and “Abide with me.” The interment took place at the Free Church cemetery, where Pastor Edwards was assisted by Rev. W. H. T. Ravenhill, M.A. (Rector of Sutcombe).

Family mourners included: Mary, Elsie and Bessie (daughters), Mr. Heale (brother), Mr. R. A. Hellier and Mr. Bond (sons-in-law), Evelyn and Kathleen (granddaughters), Mr. T. Jeffery and Mr. Rowland (grandsons-in-law), Mr. Heale and Mrs. C. Heale (nephew and niece).

The bearers were Messrs. G. H. Furse, J. Balsdon, W. E. Mountjoy, W. Kivell, F. Facey and A. Ham.

A number of general sympathisers from Sutcombe and the neighbourhood attended.
