Eleven divorce petitions were dealt with by Mr. Justice Mackinnon at the Derbyshire Assizes to-day.

Pioletta [sic] Evelyn Thompson, hotel bookkeeper of Warwick, who married Edward Cecil Thompson, of High-street, Derby, at Gainsborough, in 1923 [sic], said she would have brought proceedings earlier, quoting Lilian Ada R. Harvey, of Derby, as co-respondent, but she had not the means to do so. A decree was granted.

Mr. Justice MacKinnon dealt with 11 divorce cases at the Derbyshire Assizes on Saturday.

A decree was granted to Mrs. Violetta Evelyn Thompson, of the Lord Leycester Hotel, Warwick, against her husband, Edwin [sic] Cecil Thompson, of High-street, Derby. The parties were married at Gainsborough in 1913, and there was one child [Evelyn May (Thompson) Wallace].

Surprise for driver

SURPRISE FOR DRIVER.

Edward Cecil Thompson, 3, Queen’s-square, Leeds, Yorkshire, was stated to have driven a van limited to 30 miles an hour at a speed of 41 miles an hour. He told the officer who stopped him that he did not think the vehicle would do it.

He was fined £1.
