EMBEZZLEMENT BY A COMMERCIAL TRAVELLER. – Alfred Prinn (38), commercial traveller, was indicted for having embezzled £3. 17s. 10d. on the 11th March, 1881, £17. 5s. 6d. on the 20th May, a cheque upon a banker for the payment of £49. 11s. on the 28th May, and a cheque for the payment of £5. 4s. 11d. on the 17th June, the money and property of his master, Henry Read, brushmaker, Mott Street. Mr. Stubbins prosecuted. – The prisoner was a clerk and commercial traveller in the employ of the prosecutor, and received the cheques and money on his master’s behalf, but did not account for them. – He pleaded guilty to a portion of the charge, and was convicted of the whole. He was sentenced to twelve months’ imprisonment, with hard labour.
